Fellow People
One flicker of the eyes is enough to see that you are both living, breathing beings. It is an unquestioning moment and one a lot of people forget. People tend to be absorbed in their own nucleus of being and treat others as though they do not matter or exist. There is a saying to “treat others as you would want to be treated yourself”. By seeing a fellow person, one immediately sees oneself rather than “someone else”, someone other than myself. It is an engulfing phrase and allows for anyone to walk into it and feel welcome and included.
This piece was first performed in 2009 at the Cyprus Dance Platform and created with Katja Mustonen and Patrick Giesberts. It was also performed in Warsaw later that summer at the Zawirowania Dance Theatre Summer Festival.
