About Side Walks
Three artists have been moved to create a 10-minute movement video based on their pedestrian experiences in Limassol.
The video entitled “Περί Πεζοδρομίου/ About SideWalks”, explores the journey of two pedestrians who are challenged to deal with the pavement -or lack of it- that exists in town. They have to overcome and fight for their space on the pavements with the ever-encroaching take-over of cars, often being forced to take extreme measures.
The video was shown on the 5th July, 2010 at the abandoned “Ariel” οpen-air cinema, which is situated in one of the busiest junctions of Limassol. In this way, drivers and passers-by were inevitably faced with the chaos we create with our undisciplined driving. The video was played in a continuous loop throughout the night from 20:30 to 23:30. The event was supported by the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts of the Cyprus University of Technology and “The Copy Shop”. Screened with kind permission from Charilaos Stavrakis.
